La Liga Reaches New Heights In Asia

Keen to boost the visibility and profile of Spanish sports around the world, La Liga held the first event of its kind at the Hysan Place, Causeway Bay.

This comes as part of a large promotion for the league in Asia, encouraging the values of teamwork and leadership, as seen in the two clubs famous for their skilled performances, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

International Communications Manager for La Liga in Asia, Iván Gómez, was joined by Olympic Badminton Champion, Carolina Marin, who is also working as an ambassador to help raise the profile and popularity of La Liga in Asia. Gómez made it clear that Hong Kong was a large part of La Liga’s upcoming expansion plans, explaining: “Over the years, La Liga has been increasingly noticed globally and experienced exponential growth in terms of both performance and quality delivery to the audience around the world. Football is so popular in Hong Kong and the goal of La Liga is to continue in a market like this.”

As the popularity of football soars throughout Asia, La Liga is keen to remain at the forefront of fans’ attention, with Gómez adding: “We must ensure that the number of followers continues to grow and consolidate us as the world’s leading football league. Seeing this potential, we consider Hong Kong as a crucial market for La Liga.”

La Liga has continuously increased its presence throughout Asia, already increasing viewership in the region by 25 per cent and celebrating the opening of its fifth office in Singapore this year. Through the rapidly growing presence of the league, La Liga legends have visited the region with public viewing events, trophy tours and much more, bringing football fans throughout Asia closer to the action than ever before as La Liga aims to reach 400 million viewers in Asia by 2020.
