GolfTV Launches Live Streaming Service

GolfTV has been announced as the live video streaming service enabling a $2billion deal between the PGA Tour and Discovery.

This partnership which gives Discovery rights to broadcast more than 2,000 hours of PGA Tour content every year has excited those in the industry as well as fans.

An industry leading video streaming service, GolfTV is set to launch fully at the start of January, beginning its broadcasting predominantly in Europe, Australia, Japan and Russia and continuing to grow its reach globally thereafter.

It’s not only live content which will be broadcast through GolfTV, with digital rights, near-live rights and much more giving fans eagerly awaited content which can include specific feeds and unique content on a global scale.

Explaining their creation of GolfTV, President and General Manager of Discovery said: “It was really important for us to find a name that would resonate and work with golf fans in every country in the world. There are very few sports that are truly global. This is one of them.”

“We believe that linear and digital can play off each other and we can create a consumer proposition country by country that utilises both platforms. We are building an ecosystem around a single sport and we are doing it on such a scale and with so much ambition that is it super-challenging.”
